It is that time of the year again when the Apple stores will brace themselves for the storm. Yes, the 7th generation iPhones have been launched in the form of iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Yet again, there have been some small but big changes which I guess are enough for the iPhone lovers to upgrade to the new variants.
Number 1: Display
The iPhone 7 features a 4.7 inch display while the iPhone 7 plus comes with a bigger 5.5 inch display. The screen resolution of the the smaller phone is 750×1334 which is basically a HD resolution, the larger display has a full HD screen resolution (1080×1920).
Number 2: Build Quality
Apart from the regular colours, 2 new variants have been added this time – glossly black and the regular black. Although the glossy black coloured iPhone 7 can take a lot of smudges, it is surprisingly non slippery. The antennas are present in the chassis this time. Many people are liking this very design but I preferred the old design.
Number 3: No 3.5 mm Headphone Jack
With its iPhone 7, Apple wants you to use earpods. This means that you cannot insert a regular earphone in your phone because there is simply no slot! The Earpods or the Airpods will cost you $159. This converts to Rs 10,571. Quite a lot of amount!
Number 4: Dual Camera
The iPhone 7 plus features a dual camera. This kind of camera you must have seen earlier in the Huawei 6 Plus. So what do the two cameras do? They capture two images and simply merge those images to produce the best shot. The results are indeed impressive. But do remember that the aperture on the both the new iPhones is f/1.8 and that on the Samsung Galaxy S7 is f/1.7.
On paper, S7 has a better camera. But let me check the real world performance and I will update you soon.
Number 5: New Home Button
It is still round and still has a fingerprint scanner. But you cannot click it now. It comes with what Apples call taptic feedback. It is a pressure sensitive button now and learns from the pressure of your finger and works accordingly.
