At its special event this week, Apple introduced its newest iPad, the iPad Pro. Wait what didn’t they already release that? That’s what I said when I first saw it, turns out Apple is selling a 9.7 inch version of its monster 12.9 inch iPad Pro.
The iPad Pro 9.7 is a much smaller and more user friendly device aimed at replacing your PC. Apple’s iPad market is shrinking with people really not seeing why they should upgrade their iPads and Apple really needs some new innovation to change this growing mindset. The iPad Pro brings everything in it’s big brother in a more managable form-factor.
You’ll find the same A9X chip powering it and amazing performance,if not better due to the smaller size. The M9 co-processor is also back to lift some of the weight from the main chip by taking over the sensors.Whatever you say this processor is the best processor in any tablet available with unparalleled performance.
As we said earlier the Apple iPad Pro 9.7 comes with a 9.7 inch display which brings it down to the same size as all the other iPad’s before. It comes with a 2048×1536 resolution and produces stunning clarity in all areas, it is a true tone display with a greater color gamut than the 12.9 inch Pro which itself was a benchmark. This display will not leave you wanting anything else.
Apple has upgraded the rear camera to the critically acclaimed 12 MP shooter found in the 6s and with it all of its features including 4K video and 240 fps slow-motion videos. For a tablet, especially an iPad, this a huge camera overhaul and frankly a bit unexpected considering the lack of iPad photographers out there; but whatever always great to have an amazing camera in your tablet when your phones not around right.
The Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard has made a return showing that the device can still be used by artists and designers if they need it and it is not only aimed at the general market. Apple Pencil is a highly specialized stylus which has little to no lag and can be used designers and artists alike to get a pencil like accuracy on an iPad. The Smart Keyboard is a simple case keyboard with signature Apple design, it is aimed at people who want to use this device as a PC replacement and for business device.
The Apple iPad Pro 9.7 is priced at $599(approx.Rs.39970) for entry level 32 GB and then there’s a jump to 128 GB for $699 (approx Rs 49,999) an then for the first time ever a 256 GB variant for $899 (approx. Rs 60,070). All variants except for the 32 GB are available in cellular models with $129 (approx Rs 8618) addition. The 12.9 inch iPad Pro also now has 256 GB variant priced at $1099 (approx. Rs 73,500) for cellular and $1229 (approx. Rs 82,176) for the cellular edition.
The bottom line is that the iPad Pro 9.7 is an attempt at replacing the PC and your old iPad lying around at home. The upgraded camera and processor and accessories are great but just not enough to get someone like me owns an iPad Air 2 to upgrade but perhaps older iPad owners or people looking to replace bulky PC’s may pick it up.
