Riding high on the successful show of its tablets, Gaaxy Tab 2 and recently launched Galaxy Tab 3, Samsung announced the launch of a new tablet. It is named Galaxy Tab 3 Kids. This Tablet is primarily aimed at kids with dedicated kid apps and a Samsung Kids Store.
Galaxy Tab 3 Kids come with a 7 inches screen which boasts of a 1024×600 pixel display. HD display in a Kids tablet is a great spec to include. Processor wise it packs in 2 processors clocking in at 1.2 GHz each. It would contain 1 GB of RAM. Coming to the storage part, Galaxy Tab 3 Kids woul come with an inbuilt storage of 8 GB which like most of Samsung’s devices would be expandable to 32 GB via a micro SD slot. This tablet would come with a primary camera of 3.2 MP and a front facing camera of 1.3 MP for self shots and video calling. Some might argue that 3.2 MP camera is a tad too low these days. Let us tell you, the Camera we tested in Galaxy Tab 3 (7 inches) (Check Review) was also 3.2 MP and if Samsung puts in the same lens and hardware then its a great value for money spec.
Galaxy Tab 3 Kids currently runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1. That in many ways an old piece of software for a yet to be launched tablet. But going by the innards of this tablet, an update to the latest version of Android would not be far away. This device packs in a 4000 mAh battery under the hood which in most cases would be enough to power the device and keep it up and running all day long. Overall a good battery for a 7 inches display. Galaxy Tab 3 Kids also includes a Time Manager Feature. Through this feature, parents can set in a specific time span for their kids to use the device. Once this time limit is reached, Galaxy Tab 3 would auto-lock and the parent would have to enter the password set by him/her in order to unlock the device. A cool feature that would limit the time spent by children on the tablet but would also result in cool battles at home!
The tablet also packs a kids case featuring a child-friendly grip and multiple stand options. The case also comes equipped with an easy-to-grip C Pen. Initially, Samsung plans to launch the tablet in South Korea early next month. Other global markets are expected to get the tablet later this year. The pricing of Galaxy Tab 3 Kids is expected to hover around 10,000 INR.
