Google announced major updates to its tailor-made Google Drive for the enterprise, G-Suite at the Cloud Next ’17. They evolved the Hangouts Meet and Hangouts Chat, Add-on platforms and @meet.
Google Drive has more than 800 million active users and focuses on making the platform more efficient and simpler for its users.
The main enhancements in the Drive are:
Team Drives enable the teams in enterprises to share files, manage permissions, etc. Google Vault For Drive allows admins to manage policies and retention. They are available today for enterprises, education and G Suite customers.
G Suite customers can apply for Early Adopter Program today. Drive File Stream allows users to access a lot of content directly from cloud storage.
AppBridge helps the users in simplifying the migration of complex data to Google Drive.
To allow the employees of a company, that are spread all over the world, to communicate easily, Google has introduced two new Hangouts experiences – Hangouts Meet and Hangouts Chat.
Hangouts Meet is a new feature that allows up to 30 people to join in a meeting in seconds. It integrates with G Suite to provide more efficient file transfer. It can used on any Android/iOS device without needing any wifi/data.
Hangouts Chat is a way to use virtual rooms to chat with each other and keep on the work even without meeting. Users can embed docs, sheets, slides, etc. to share data simultaneously.
Google also introduced Jamboard in last fall to help make the real time collaborations even more efficient.
G Suite also allows users to integrate other apps and services as well like Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc. Google also introduced Gmail Add-ons.
Google also introduced machine intelligence to simplify tasks for example, Explore in Sheets or Quick Access in Drive. @meet, an intelligent bot was also introduced for the G Suite. It schedules meetings automatically.
