As per reports from the My Speed App of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Idea Cellular received the highest upload speed in the month of May. Idea Cellular is one of India’s leading telecom operators and has pan-India broadband footprint.
In the month of May, as per the data by TRAI, Idea received the highest average upload speed, which was 8.45 Mbps. It also had a good average download speed of 13.7 Mbps in the month of May.
All the data is calculated and collected using MySpeed application of TRAI. Idea was ahead of Airtel, Vodafone and other existing 4G networks.
Idea Cellular recently launched 4G LTE using a 2100MHz band in Mumbai, which marked the completion of its pan-India mobile broadband rollout. They also were the ones who set up the highest number of sites in a single year, by rolling out a massive broadband network last year.
Now, out of approximately 2.5 lakh cell sites of Idea, 50% are broadband capable. This means that, now, Idea’s 3G/4G services cater to over 525 million Indians across 6,000 towns and 100,00 villages.
Idea had a total expenditure on capital equipment of Rs. 7,800 crores in FY 16-17 and has an additional guidance for FY18 at Rs. 6000 crores. This shows that Idea is committed to rapidly expand its services across the country.
