Over the course of time, Micromax has positioned itself as a trusted brand in the Indian market. It comes up with smartphones and feature phones in almost all the categories and thus caters to the widest range of consumers. However, there is one thing which the company needs to sort out.
The pace at which the company launches smartphones is really fast. On the other hand the speed of providing software updates to its phones is terribly slow. The question everyone is asking is that is there any road-map which the company has rolled out for Android Marshmallow update?
Micromax Canvas Xpress 4G
This is one of the new handsets from Micromax. Since the phone comes with 2 GB of RAM and a powerful quad core processor, it is widely expected to get upgraded to Android Marshmallow. It currently operates on Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system. Also, the screen resolution is HD and not Full HD. Slightly lesser amount of pixels on screen mean that the hardware is more than capable of handling the demands of next gen software.
Micromax Canvas 5
This is the second phone in the Micromax Android Marshmallow update line-up. It features state of art hardware and powerful processor in terms of a true-octa core chipset. 3 GB of RAM is a lot of RAM and should not be a problem for the latest Android software. Canvas 5 is an ideal phone for the update.
Micromax Canvas Juice 3+
The Juice phoen line-up has been the company’s one of the most successful line-up in terms of volumes. The users have felt satisfied and Juice series is really popular amongst the users. The USP of Canvas Juice 3+ is 4000 mAh battery. However, it also packs in 2 GB of RAM and a quad core processor. There is high probability that this phone will get Marshmallow update in the year 2016.
These are the 3 handsets which I expect to get Android Marshmallow update from Micromax. There are several other handsets which do have the processing power and hardware for a smooth Marshmallow experience. However, Micromax’s strategy has always been to introduce new phones in the market instead of providing updates to the older handsets.
Saying that, most of the Micromax smartphones which either run on Android Lollipop or Kitkat are quite stable in terms of software and user experience has been good.
The above schedule is the estimate from the experts at NothingGeek. It is more or less accurate. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Android Marshmallow has finger-print sensor support by default. However, none of the Micromax’s current line-up of smartphones have fingerprint scanner as a hardware feature.
