Motorola made quite an impression in 2014 in the Android smartphone marketplace, with devices such as the Moto E for the budget category, the Moto X 2014 with top-tier hardware which was company’s flagship and successor to very successful previous gen of Moto X, the Nexus 6, Moto 360 and the bang-for-the-buck Moto G. For a brief period of time, Motorola listed a new variant of their second gen Moto G smartphone or ‘Moto G 2015’ featuring 4G capability and a larger battery unit, in Brazil. The details however have been removed from the website now, and there was no word about the device’s pricing or availability details.
The Motorola Brazil website which enlisted the new variant of the smartphone, mentioned that the device will support 4G LTE mentioned under headers: storage capacity, screen, dimensions, network and bands. According to the listing on the website, the new variant will have a 2,390 mAh battery, as compared to a 2,070 mAh unit on current gen model.
And witnessing such great success of the 2nd gen Moto G, it would be quite obvious that Motorola produced a version of their budget device that supports 4G LTE and bigger battery which would cater well in markets where high-speed mobile internet access is available at the moment. Though high speed 4G is not widely available to the masses at the moment in India, major telecom operators like Reliance Jio Infocom and Airtel are in persuit to bringing high-speed networks in India, starting with major cities.
Not only Motorola, but smartphone manufacturers themselves are in persuit to bring the next big thing to the Indian market, high-speed 4G internet with popular players like Lenovo and Huawei who have already announced their plans to unveil budget smartphone equipped with 4G wireless capable hardware.
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, have already launched its budget smartphone, the Redmi Note 4G to compete against the likes of Motorola and domestic players too, and so a 4G variant of the Moto G does not come to as much of a surprise.
The successor of Moto G 2013, the second gen Moto G is among one of the best smartphones to buy under Rs, 15,000 considering the more than respectable specs and the brand value of Motorola. The Moto G 2014 runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with the promise of future updates and has a 5 inch HD IPS LCD Display, 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded using MicroSD card up to 32 GB, 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2 MP front facing camera.
