Design And Display
The phone got an elegant design with a gold side border made up of metal. Then their is the leather pattern back which is made up of plastic but can be removed.

new zenfone max sim slots and batteryUnder the hood we have a 5000 mAh battery which cannot be removed. Also present are the slots for 2 SIM cards and a separate slot for the micro SD card. The backplate is quite flexible, so you need not worry as the chances to break it while removing are minimal.

new zenfone max backThere is no fingerprint scanner in the Asus Zenfone Max but the other features provided make up for it. At 200 gram+ the phone is slightly bulky.

The display is a 5.5 inch HD with good colours. The touch is butter smooth and is one of the best things that I like about Asus smartphones. You can simply tap double tap on the display to bring it to life and then double tap it back if you want it to go dark instantaneously.

Performance
The Zenfone max got 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of total storage space. Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor provides the hustle to this device. I ran Antutu benchmark in order to assess the performance. The score which I got was 41,000 plus. This is a respectable score guys.

For regular users: The Zen User interface is easy to get a hang on and the operating system is stable. You will have a good time watching movies, clicking pictures, sending emails and chatting on Whatsapp on the Zenfone Max.

For gamers: A device carrying Snapdragon 615 processor is always a worry for the gamers. But the chipset works well with the software on the Zenfone Max and I was able to play heavy games like Modern Combat 5, Walking War Robots and Dead Trigger 2. There are slight hiccups in between when several objects come in to the picture but the overall gameplay is acceptable.

Camera
Asus has stuck with its 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front facing camera in the Zenfone Max. I am not complaining. Check out the images below. Click on them in order to magnify and you will realize that the pictures have come out to be good. The phone got laser autofocus and dual flash capability.

The repeated images indicate that one has been clicked without the flash on and the other with the flash on. There is no flash in the front camera, so it doesn’t apply there!

Battery Life
Now this is the area where this phone beats every other phone in the same price segment. A 5000 mAh battery is what provides the juice to the Zenfone Max. This is a non removable battery but with so much of energy, why would one ask for a replaceable one!

The battery easily lasts 1.5 days if you are a heavy user. If you are a regular user then it will last upto 2.5 days. Now I suggest you to use a 2 Amp charger to charge this humongous battery as it will take time.

Verdict
2 good things about the Zenfone Max is its battery life and the camera quality. Also, I am happy with a stable and fast software and decent gaming capability of the phone. It is a smart package for those people who love their device to be big and strong. There is no area where this phone will disappoint you. Saying that, you can avoid it if you like your phone to be light weight.
