After playing a second hand against the likes of international brands like Samsung and Indian brands like Micromax, Xolo seems to be finally out of the closet and is taking the competition to these front runners. It launched New Xolo Play Tablet, Tegra Note in New Delhi yesterday which is till date the most expensive tablet made by Xolo. Tegra Note would cost you Rs 17,999 and is available for pre-booking on the Xolo’s website. The company is also claiming that it is the fastest 7 inch tablet in the world!

The New Xolo Play Tablet comes with a 7 inch HD screen which packs in 216 pixels per inch. The company has also included NVIDIA’s direct stylus technology which would give users more freedom to use there tablet in innovative ways. Since the company is laying claims to the fastest 7 inch tablet, let’s check out the processor under the hood. The New Xolo Play Tablet comes with 4 cores based on the latest Tegra 4 architecture. These 4 cores are coupled with 1 GB RAM. Tegra 4 is one of the fastest chipsets around and has got 72 GPU cores which makes it really awesome for 3 dimensional gaming. The New Xolo Play Tablet got a 5 MP autofocus camera and a front facing VGA camera. The internal memory is only 16 GB and going by the norms, Android operating system would take another 3 GB. So, the user is left with 13 GB of space. Sadly, there is no memory card slot to increase that limited storage. If the New Xolo Play Tablet is actually designed for multimedia purpose, then we wonder why no memory card slot has been included. These days, high definition games take up 1-2 GB of space after installation. If a user fills his Tegra Note with 5 such games, he would be left with as much as 5 GB of  storage where he or she has to store images, videos, movies and other applications! The New Xolo Play Tablet would run Android 4.2.2 out of the box but Xolo has promised an update to version 4.3 and later on to Android KitKat.

Talking about the competition New Xolo Play Tablet would face in the Indian market, there are only two major 7 inch tablets which could give this device a run for its money. The first is Samsung Tab 3. However, people who are not brand conscious would go for Xolo tablet because of the poor specifications of Samsung Tab at the same price point. The second device is Google nexus 7 2013 tablet and is packed with the state of art hardware and software. The best thing is that Nexus 7 packs in 2 GB RAM which makes it future proof and 5 MP camera which is capable of shooting FULL HD videos. The 16 GB variant is only 2000 bucks expensive than the New Xolo Play Tablet and is definitely a steal! What more, you would get the latest Android update as soon as it is out.
