Value For Money
The Samsung Galaxy J8 is not the best of the phone in the market. It offers great camera and good display. That's it. The processor is not happening and the phone takes quite a lot f time to charge up. In this era of super fast processors and turbo charges, the J8 looks like a middle aged person
Samsung decided to launch a new mid range phone in the market and this made me excited. So I decided to review the Galaxy J8 smartphone. The phone is priced at Rs 18,990 and there are many cashback offers running online. But should you invest that money in this phone?
Design and Display
In my Samsung Galaxy J8 review, I found that this smartphone does not have a good design. The phone sports a run of the mill look which is carried by every other phone these days. Moreover, the phone is made of polycarbonate and only the side frame is metallic. This removes the premium look factor.
On the display front, the J8 scores well. It comes with a 6 inch HD+ display which is a super AMOLED one. The colours are great and I enjoyed watching videos on this phone. Sadly, there is no Gorilla Glass protection, so it is better to get a tempered glass applied on the display.
The Samsung Galaxy J8 comes with 4 GB of RAM and a octa core processor in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. This is an old processor and not very fast.
If you do not play heavy games and want a phone for regular usage, this is a good phone. However, gamers should stay away from this device as you experience will not be good.
There are a lot of customization options available in the phone. You can choose from a plethora of themes, change the function of the navigation buttons and also play with hell lot of gestures. The people who like to customize their phone for a personalized experience, will love it.
Then there is Samsung Knox which provides a lot of security. You can easily scan your phone from time to time to make sure that it is malware and virus free. Set lock to different applications and unlock them with passwords or fingerprint scan. Thumbs up!
A 16 MP camera coupled with a 5 MP camera is what you get at the back of this phone. During my Samsung Galaxy J8 review, I enjoyed clicking images. They come out well. Even the portrait mode pictures are really good.
The front facing 16 MP camera is capable of clicking great selfies and the portrait mode images come out crisp and realistic.
The phone has a 3500 mAh battery. It lasts a day. I won’t go much into the technicalities but the screen on time is fine and you will not be looking for a charging point before late night. On the downside, the phone does not have fast charge. This means that the battery takes 3 hours to go from 0 to 100 per cent. That’s a huge amount of time!
