Each one of you must be familiar with the Truecaller app. It has become a highly popular app today as it shows you the contact details of unknown numbers calling you, hence ensuring a hassle free experience of incoming calls from unknown numbers.
Even if you don’t use the app, your contact details are still available in the Truecaller app, thanks to its so called crowd-sourcing method. In this method, Truecaller sources a user’s contact details from all its address books, meaning your details go up on Truecaller even if you’ve never used the service.
So basically, if someone else saved your name and number and has allowed the Truecaller app to access their address books, then your details could be on Truecaller’s.
Landline numbers too get listed on Truecaller and hence it can further help in bagging your address also. It is so because if you have an access to a landline number, most of the telecom company databases can get you the address associated with that landline number too. So, you may want to remove your number from Truecaller and its database. And it is a simple process and needs just five minutes of your schedule.
The following are the simple steps to deactivate your Truecaller account, mentioned for all OS.
Open the Truecaller app, then tap the people icon in the upper left corner. Once the drop down menu opens in it, go to Settings > About > Deactivate account.
Open the Truecaller app and tap on the gear icon in the top right corner and once the menu opens, tap on About Truecaller and further go to Deactivate Truecaller.
Open the Truecaller app and tap the three dots in the bottom right corner and then go to Settings > Help > Deactivate account.
Now, with the deactivation of your account, the first step of un-listing your number is done. Now follow the below step for taking your number off:
Firstly, go to the Truecaller unlist page. Simply go to Google and type Truecaller unlist page.
Once the page opens, enter your phone number with the correct country code. And further select a specific reason for unlisting from Truecaller or type your own reason in the Others section.
Then put in the exact captcha for verification.
Lastly, click Unlist.
After taking all the above steps, it will take up to 24 hours in order to remove your number from Truecaller database, according to company’s claims. But this unlisting thing has a twist, your number could come back in a few days too. Yes, this is not a permanent step and would need you to regularly check Truecaller for your removed number.
