Coolpad To Launch A Mini Dynamite On 16th March

coolpad invite small packs all

Working in the technology industry since last 4 years, I have seen a specific trend. Several new brands, especially mobile, jump into the scene with a bang and then fizzle out with a similar speed. Only a handful sustain. Coolpad has.

Tomorrow, 16th March, 2017, this Chinese brand is ready to launch a new smartphone which will offer a lot in a compact form factor. The first save the date invite which was sent to us, said: Experience the power of small. The second invite said: Small packs all. I sense that the new phone will be a budget phone with loads of features and cutting edge hardware.

Speculations about this phone being the Coolpad Conjr are also also ripe. Coolpad made a big show at the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas where it showcased this smartphone.

coolpad conjr landscapeThe Coolpad Conjr comes with a 5 inch display which is high definition, 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage space. There is micro SD card slot in that phone and you can  further expand the storage. The rear camera is a 13 MP shooter and the good part is that it has optical image stabilization technology. The front camera is a 8 MP one. The battery on the phone is 2500 mAh and it operates on a customized version of Android Marshmallow.

I had a word with one of my media friend from US and he was impressed by the camera. The asking price for the Coolpad Conjr over there is $200. This converts to Rs 13,111 in India. The US price is indeed high when compared with the Indian market but then the cost of unlocked phones in US market is generally on the higher side.

If Coolpad decides to launch its Conjr phone in the market tomorrow, I believe that they would launch it below Rs 10,000. I say this because over the time, Coolpad has started understanding the Indian market well and with its products, it knows what it is offering and what kind of consumers to target. This is the reason why this company is in top 10 when it comes to the global smartphone brands. So much so that Coolpad doubled its workforce in 2016.
